I'm going to try to update this blog a little more often. My daughter's are both great at doing their blogs but especially Paige. She really keeps up with it pretty good. My next post is going to be following THM on a budget, compete with menu for one week and grocery list! I'm working on it now. I am so excited about these products and am already seeing the amazing health benefits in my family! With 9 children, sickness is not fun here and prevention is key! However, here recently we came down with a stomach bug and I started with my oils right away. WOW! The intensity and duration were less than ever before. I'm also seeing great results with my littlest ones tummy issues. They have a digestive blend that is wonderful. Way less tears from her and it is so nice! I could go on and on!!!

I'm just going to share some of the ways I am using these oils and the recipes to go with them!

Honestly this wraps it all up for me! Being able to care for my children at home!

I have worn a head covering for almost 4 years up until about 4 months ago. I now wear a head covering during church meetings as requested by my husband. I'm not going to debate about whether it is right or wrong, this way or that way, I'm just going to share what we've come to and it has not been an easy road. We are also not saying we are 100% right, on the contrary we know we are wrong on things but still seeking the Lord daily and we do know He is not done with us yet! If you think you have arrived and have all the answers please don't contact me because I am sure you are also full of pride and have a critical spirit of anyone who isn't doing things just the way you see. Even when it is clear and everyone will agree certain scriptures are just confusing. Especially this!
Anyone who has ever studied this probably has the verses memorized as I almost do. These verses have been studied and studied in our home off and on for close to 10 years and we are no closer to fully understanding them than when we first started. However, we do feel at peace with where we are at right now. We have always taken just these verses and studied them until recently. Finally we started reading the whole chapter and some in the previous chapter and things made much more sense. Before and after verses are clearly talking about public times of worship and meeting together. If I am praying alone in my bed at night, which I do every night, am I dishonoring my husband when no one sees me except God? What about every baby I've had in the bathtub? Not sure if you know much about birth but it requires some nakedness (please keep in mind I am in a bathtub), I also do not wear a head covering then. So does God not hear me? Am I dishonoring my head? No, I've NEVER felt convicted about praying without a cloth covering on my head. If my shirt is too low cut I cannot leave my house because of the conviction. I have safety pins for that reason. If I speak harshly to my children I am convicted and I confess and ask my children to forgive my rotteness. My point is when I sin, I feel conviction from the Holy Spirit, when I don't put on a head covering to go to Walmart I do not feel conviction. I actually feel more convicted for why am I putting on my head covering just to be seen of men? It's like the verse where the man dresses in long robes and makes long prayers to be seen of men in Matthew. I'm not saying this is for all you ladies that cover, it was just how I always felt. I wasn't going to Walmart to pray. There's just so much that goes into this I'm afraid I won't be able to fully explain but I'll try. It may lead off on several rabbit trails and I am sorry for that. It has just been a long journey.

I guess just for my view here really quick and I know my husband also sees it this way, we can still see the scriptures both ways, speaking of a cloth covering and also why people believe it is LONG hair. Not just hair, we don't think men have to pray bald headed, but it specifically says long hair is given as a covering, in verse 15. It is the only time a noun is used and it is referring to the hair as a literal cloth veil. There is never a second covering mentioned. The words used in the upper portion are verbs, so yes of course they are different greek words than what is used in 15. Verse 15 is the only noun. What makes us question the hair being the covering is history. Women covered their heads in church with a veil or hat up until I guess even 50 years ago. Also it does seem to be referring to something you can take on and off. Which also helps solidify our conclusion of it being put on at specific times only. ????? Confusing but my point in sharing this is that I can love ladies who cover and ladies who don't. I see it both ways.

We do not believe the head covering is a salvation issue. When I was born again if I had died right then I would be in heaven with my Lord (or whenever that happens, please don't get technical on me). I still smoked, dressed immodestly, still used the Lord's name in vain, still did a lot of things, but what He had showed me to repent of I did, wholeheartedly, and gave Him my heart/my life. Since that day I have continued to grow by His grace. Using His name in vain brought immediate conviction, I stopped. Cussing brought immediate conviction, I stopped. Little by little the Lord worked on me inside and out and still is! Praise His name! If I have to accumulate enough good works and get everything just perfect in this life before I can go to heaven then I have no chance. What a life of fear and torment! Most importantly Jesus died in vain and His blood wasn't good enough if that is true. But Jesus' blood was enough! If you believe in Him and give Him your life then you are a child of God, precious in His sight. Seek to do His will and stay in His word daily so you won't be deceived. Salvation is salvation!!!

Our question here is why the instruction on the hair? If hair is to be bound up all day and night in a bun and hidden under a covering why would Paul say anything about hair. We believe because the head covering is 1. for your head & 2. not for every day all the time. You would have to wear it 24/7 to be obeying the scripture to pray without ceasing and have your head covered when praying. Life gets in the way. I have had several things happen in the last 4 years where I was not wearing a covering and needed to be instant in prayer. Once as I stepped out of the shower I heard one of my children being ran over with a riding lawn mower and blood curling screams. He was okay, praise the Lord. Should I have not prayed? Did I dishonor my husband? Weird thing is that we had just made the decision for me to wear a head covering and then this happened. What was the Lord saying through this? I just don't believe in coincidences. This said something to me. Also men do cover their heads with hats, stocking hats, whatever, can they not pray then?

As for the early church writings, I think it has been said you can find one or more to back up just about anything you want. What they have written is not scripture, it is not the inspired word of God. I know of people who have gotten away from clear scripture because they look to these writings as inspired. However, in them there are plenty of references to women doing up their hair elaborate with curls, using bobby pins to make the hair wavy, dying the hair different colors, and other things. How would they know all of this if they never saw the ladies hair? It's obvious through their writings that the women wore the covering sometimes, specific times, seems like during meetings. I don't think anyone can be 100% sure on that. We are just combining this with scripture to make our decision.

About making the decision to cover, we never fully understood or felt convicted for me to wear it. We wanted to be a part of a sweet, loving, unified body of believers. Well, that is not what we found. We found contention and critical spirits that did not reflect Christ. We found people that actually said that women in China who were being murdered for their faith in Christ were not really Christians because they did not wear head coverings. Willing to lay down your life for Christ, not good enough, huh? There is only one place we know of that is full of a critical spirit and even there we believe some of them love Jesus. There are issues that need dealt with and great deception there though. Doing things do not get you to heaven, believing in Jesus and being born again is the only way to heaven. Paul shares the gospel well and we can think of no better teacher than God Himself in His word. We also want to say that we do pray this group will repent of their pride and have their eyes opened by the Lord. They could do so much good for the kingdom of Christ if they were filled with the love and compassion of Christ Himself.

I'm just going to touch briefly on what is an acceptable head covering because this too is confusing. How big is big enough, how long is long enough, can you show any hair or must you cover to your forehead, can it be pink, blue, brown, or only white, can it have lace on the outer edge or cute serged scallops, or only plain, can it be a bonnet, a hat, a doily, see through, ???? When is it good enough? How do you know your style is accepted by God?

I have talked with several sweet, godly, born again women who wear coverings and we all do things a little bit different. Some of them take their coverings off at 7pm, just really need it off. Most all of them tell me they pray without it at night or when need be. Most would say they have a day or more each week when they wash their hair and are without it almost all day letting their hair dry. Those would be long days without prayer. One lady I know puts it on just for prayer and takes it off again. So at meal times she puts it on then takes it off again. I see a very hindered prayer life for her. It would be for me anyway. I pray several times a day and often need to be instant in prayer which you cannot do if you have to walk across the house to get and put on your head covering. I would get up at 2am, 4am , who knows when to nurse my new baby, was I supposed to go pin on my head covering before getting my crying baby so I could pray if I wanted to? I have my Bible time first thing in the morning (before showering) and do so without a covering. It seemed so silly to be sitting in the privacy of my own room in my nightgown and have to get up go to the bathroom, brush my hair, put it up in a bun, bobby pin my head covering, now go back and have quiet time. I would put it on at some point in the day after my hair dried because I shower daily, have to, oily hair problem if I don't, yuck! So I wasn't putting it on to pray it was just because I have to, right? I think you are getting my point. Life happens and it's just not logical to say you have to cover your head EVERY single time you pray. Now I do believe there are some sects that won't pray without it. I know some amish believe that if they die without it they will go to hell. They do wear theirs in the bathtub when giving birth. It is the only thing they are wearing but they do wear it. I'm not here to say your conviction is wrong if that is what you believe, I commend you and love you. It's just not what we believe. I've rarely in the four years of wearing it wore it all day without a headache. My daughter would get terrible headaches from wearing it and could not wear her hair up at all. It would just get too bad. If she puts her hair up in a bun in about an hour she is in pain. She was always looked down on for showing her hair. Is this biblical? I think not. I think we should go to Jesus for the answer. When Mary uses her hair to anoint Jesus' feet with oil in Bethany did he tell her, "Woman put your hair away, what a sin."? No, He said that a testimony of that woman should be gave because of her good work. If it was sin or immodest to show your hair this would have been unacceptable to Jesus. We feel peace about my covering at meetings. Again, we are not set in stone on this. We do have open hearts to hear scripture. This is just what we see right now.

Now I want to say that I know of several godly women who wear head coverings all day, maybe some at night. I love them! I pray that they will still love me even though we see things differently. We feel the need to be free to obey God from His word and that is what we feel we are doing. I want to obey my own husband and serve the Lord with my life daily. I hope this clears up any confusion anyone may have. Please feel free to comment or ask questions I will try to answer them. However, this is what my husband has decided for me so if you want to teach me otherwise you should feel free to contact him directly. I had my husband's blessing to write this and he has edited and changed it as he saw fit. Thank you for reading and God Bless you!

I'm back! We are still in Missouri and really liking it. I guess I have a love hate thing going on with Missouri so it's good. We are rejoicing over my new pregnancy! So excited to see what the Lord has for us with that! Always amazing!

My daughters and I have started our own little sewing business! We are doing dresses, embroidery for gifts or whatever, homemade baby bibs out of jeans (so cute), and upcycled jean skirts! Along with several other things! We are enjoying it!

We have a pretty nice sized garden. I am bummed that we only have 8 tomato plants. But we do have friends that have greenhouses and we are hoping to get canning tomatoes from them. We also just got our own chickens! 14 hens and 1 rooster! They are so fun to have and watch! We are really starting to take this homesteading thing serious. With the gmo's and high fructose corn syrup and who knows what else on our grocery store shelves there's no time like now to start growing food instead of lawns!

Well, other than all of that we are still serving the Lord every day to the best of our ability! He has shown us a lot here lately and we are continuing to grow in Him! Just like the name I gave this blog, Striving to abide in Christ! By His grace we are still doing just that! Praise be to Him!
Says almost every stranger I meet. Yes, and if you think my hands are full you should see my heart! :)

Children are a blessing, my children are a blessing. It is hard, very hard. It is a sacrifice, a big sacrifice. Homeschooling and keeping the home take up most of my day but it is what I was created to do. I praise the Lord that He saw fit to give us 8 wonderful children. And now I look to Him daily to train up these little souls for Him. My utmost desire is for them to love and serve the Lord with all their hearts!

We have been getting some schoolwork done. Still trying to really settle in here. It still does not feel like home and I am often homesick for Nebraska. I miss our family & church family. We are not sure about our future. Troy would love to have his own business day cabbing trucks for farmers and that is not an option down here. We are exploring other work at home businesses that we could do here. Just not sure right now but really praying.

We are in the middle of a house remodel. We had wood laminate in our dining and kitchen and it is not happy with the amount of water that somehow ends up on it. So it was getting quickly ruined. Also our kitchen sink had a hole in it and we had to replace that which is leading to cabinets being replaced because trailer cabinets are too small. Not to mention the renters had let the water leak under the sink and caused mold and it's just gross, ugh. Also our stove broke, we had been limping that thing along for quite awhile, even bungeeing the stove door shut. I was a little happy when it quit for good (shhh don't tell). So onto craigslist to look for a stove with convection that was cheap. Found one $100, a slide in. Well we are re-doing the cabinet bases along one wall and need new counter tops so we can make that work! Ended up getting it for free because it has a crack in the glass top. It still works and it is cracked in a back burner so yeah! Anyway, it is a process. I just want to get settled and it seems to be taking a lot longer than I thought.

So, there are a few things going on with us lately. My daughter has started a blog and I have been letting her do the majority of posting for our family. If anyone is interested you can go to www.Ashley-funfarmgirl.blogspot.com She does a really good job at keeping up with things better than I do. I will however post before and after pictures when we get things done. Maybe some in progress?
Wow, it has been awhile. Again I think this is the only way I ever start a blog post! :-)
We have moved back to Missouri. The Lord opened doors and we obeyed even if we are in total shock to be back here. I felt perfectly content moving to Iowa and living happily ever after! But no go! So here we are. There is so much to do. I have a happy little 5 month old and 7 others! Life is so full I feel like we are bursting at the seams! It is great though. I have wonderful children. They are the sweetest!
So here are a few pics of us moving and right after getting here with the house a MESS! Real life right here. We're working on things but it seems a slow process because as you know life does go on!
So that is a look into our life for the last couple of months. It all happened pretty fast. We will miss our family and friends from Nebraska and Iowa. We are greatly missing our church family. Now it is just time to trust and obey the Lord. He has a plan even if we can't see it right now.Jenny Traskhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04466180941580189334noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7857347182424734742.post-16921142561476353582011-12-12T15:10:00.003-06:002011-12-12T15:17:11.318-06:00Define Necessity

Jenny Traskhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04466180941580189334noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7857347182424734742.post-24902128761229625922011-09-16T23:56:00.003-05:002011-09-17T00:12:29.067-05:00It's been awhile.....Honestly, I wonder how many of my posts are titled like that? I seem to lack in the blogging department. Oh well! Life is busy and that is good. These days are so fleeting.

I wanted to share about the Lord providing us a car. Our little gas saver blew up and Troy couldn't fix it without sinking a lot of money in it. It was hurting us pretty bad driving the truck and 15 passenger van everywhere. Well, the Lord knew about it and laid it on someone's heart to give us money to buy a car. When this man offered I said, Wow! I then went on to tell him about the $800 car I found that needed some work. He said no I want you to get something nicer than that. He ended up giving us $3500 to buy a car. It is a nicer car than we could have afforded for sure. We couldn't even afford the $800 car. What an awesome God we serve to take care of our needs exceedingly above all that we ask or think. We are now enjoying our new little car!

Also we had out tent meetings in Griswold this past weekend and they were great! I can tell you that it has been awesome to remember that God loves me and cares about me. It has changed my relationship with Him. It is out of my love for Him that I serve Him and do good works. I can do nothing of myself but in Christ He does good works through me. I think one of the greatest ways He does that is to remind us of His love for us! I am His daughter and He loves me!!! I want to please Him. I want to live my life for Him. I know some that serve Him out of fear and I can tell you that it didn't work for me. I do fail daily, not willingly but daily and with the Lord being portrayed as wanting to strike me down each time I fail I couldn't even pray to Him. Yes, I went through a hard time, a desert time maybe you could say. I felt the Lord was as far off as He had ever been. Maybe I was in the wilderness, all I know is that I was alone and had forgotten that Jesus LOVES ME! Praise the Lord for His mercy and for showing me again that He has never left me, I was just blinded for awhile. I continue to grow in His love. I am being fed well spiritually and seek to continue to learn to be more like Jesus! I hope these are your feelings as well. Have a blessed weekend serving the Lord!Jenny Traskhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04466180941580189334noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7857347182424734742.post-18647991283365275942011-08-04T23:24:00.002-05:002011-08-04T23:36:39.307-05:00What a great life!It has been awhile since I posted anything here. Sorry to neglect! Life has been full and good. I am learning and growing in the Lord and I am so thankful for that even though at times it hurts.
This pregnancy is going good. I just started a new raw food pregnancy journal. I am going to post what I eat each day. Probably have pictures at some point. It is www.rawfoodlady.blogspot.com I am hoping it will help me stay more accountable. I need it!
So I am further along than what I thought. That is exciting! Seems I didn't have a miscarriage after all. Still confused about it all but I am measuring at a few weeks more than what I should be. Only one in there, for sure! I am trying to get an ultrasound on my Dad's birthday to find out what I am having. It would be special. So my new due date is January 9-18th. So excited to have a winter baby!
Other than that our house situation may be changing soon. We are wanting to move close to Griswold. We love our church there and need to be close to them. It's so important to have that fellowship with people who are loving and serving the Lord. I can honestly say that every time we are there I am convicted, encouraged, and blessed! Such a great combination! It is also wonderful to watch the youth of the church. They are not leaving after worldliness as soon as they can, no they have pure hearts that want to keep serving the Lord. You know a church is doing something right when the youth are this dedicated. It is a beautiful thing!
Okay well, I am off to bed soon. Keep looking to the Lord, He is coming soon!Jenny Traskhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04466180941580189334noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7857347182424734742.post-87466682276476425672011-05-17T14:09:00.005-05:002011-05-17T14:35:10.377-05:00Our day at the river! We had a fun time at the river. Unfortunately we didn't get to go mushroom hunting. It was May 14th but somehow Nebraska didn't realize it was supposed to be warm! :0) So we just had a fun time taking pictures. We are going to go back soon without coats for some nicer pictures, Lord willing. But this is a glimpse of our day!
The Lord has been greatly encouraging me in my quiet time with Him. I also have been reading some really good books. I need to get on here more often and post my thoughts. One thing that is standing out from the last book I read is about people that claim to be Christians. He likened it to someone claiming to be a farmer. Yet they only go out to the field about 10% of their total time for the week. The talk about farming and even read some books about farming but rarely get out there. It is the same with most people that claim to be Christians, sadly they are following the norm (world) right to hell. They go to church every time the doors open yet have no real relationship with Christ. They are never convicted of anything. That is a warning sign right there. If the spirit in you is not convicting you of how you dress, how you speak, what you do with your time, and so on then you have the wrong spirit. It is not the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God does convict. I thank Him for that and hope to keep growing and learning from Him! God Bless you!

<img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; This is just beautiful.

Why Did Jesus Fold the Napkin? Why did Jesus fold the linen burial cloth after His resurrection?

I never noticed this....The Gospel of John (20:7) tells us that the napkin, which was placed over the face of Jesus, was not just thrown aside like the grave clothes. The Bible takes an entire verse to tell us that the napkin was neatly folded, and was placed at the head of that stony coffin.Early Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, 'They have taken the Lord's body out of the tomb, and I don't know where they have put him!'Peter and the other disciple ran to the tomb to see. The other disciple out ran Peter and got there first. He stopped and looked in and saw the linen cloth lying there, but he didn't go in.Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus' head was folded up and lying to the side.

Was that important? Absolutely!
Is it really significant? Yes!

In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have to understand a little bit about Hebrew tradition of that day. The folded napkin had to do with the Master and Servant, and every Jewish boy knew this tradition. When the servant set the dinner table for the master, he made sure that it was exactly the way the master wanted it.The table was furnished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just out of sight, until the master had finished eating, and the servant would not dare touch that table, until the master was finished..Now if the master were done eating, he would rise from the table, wipe his fingers, his mouth, and clean his beard, and would wad up that napkin and toss it onto the table. The servant would then know to clear the table. For in those days, the wadded napkin meant, "I'm finished.."But if the master got up from the table, and folded his napkin, and laid itbeside his plate, the servant would not dare touch the table,because......... The folded napkin meant,"I'm coming back!"

AND SO HE SHALL FOR THOSE WHO ARE LOOKING FOR HIS RETURN!

Someone sent this to me and I thought it was a beautiful thought. Not sure if it is all true, I'm not too up on Jewish traditions. :0) However, one thing I do know to be true is that Jesus is coming back. If you do not know Him as your Lord & Saviour I encourage you to go to His word. It's not enough to believe the fact that Jesus died and rose again, even the devils believe and tremble, James 2:19. You must make Him the Lord of your life. You no longer live for yourself but only to glorify Him. Nothing matters anymore except that which is eternal.
Seek Him and you just may find Him!Jenny Traskhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04466180941580189334noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7857347182424734742.post-23558931000377053682011-04-05T14:28:00.001-05:002011-04-05T14:30:05.237-05:00Congratulations on (Your) OUR new Baby!Last week in Nevada, Lincoln and Cecilia Rogers found out the hard way just how little “parental rights” can mean in some situations. Their newborn daughter Lilia was slightly jaundiced, so the staff at Summerlin Hospital recommended she be kept overnight. The couple received a second opinion from a pediatrician at the hospital, who agreed with the couple that they could care for little Lilia at home. “We really wanted to take the natural approach if we could,” Cecilia is quoted as saying in a KTNV report. But their original nurse disagreed – and called Child Protective Services (CPS). When CPS arrived with a police officer, they made it clear that baby Lilia would not be going anywhere. “If you leave the hospital,” the officer told Cecilia, “I will have to arrest you and your husband.” While there are times when a medical worker needs to step in to prevent abuse or neglect, this was not such a case. The fact that the couple could readily secure a second opinion permitting the child’s release demonstrates that the child’s life was not obviously in danger. The parents also were clearly mindful of the child’s condition and concerned for her needs. They simply disagreed with the nurse that her hospital was the only way those needs could be met. Thankfully, Lilia is now at home with her parents, where she is doing just fine. The hospital, meanwhile, maintains that they have not violated any patient’s rights. Sadly, stories like this happen far too often, as the extent of parental rights in America remains vague. The proposed Parental Rights Amendment offers to lend much-needed clarity, and protection for our children and families.Jenny Traskhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04466180941580189334noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7857347182424734742.post-60142168265102468712011-04-02T16:19:00.003-05:002011-04-02T16:24:18.012-05:00My new puppy, Sugar! This is my new puppy, Sugar! Isn't that a sweet name? :0) We needed something white and sweet! She is a little doll. She is an American Eskimo. As it turns out we may never need to buy dog food for her as she really enjoys her place under our dining room table! She will grow into her job quite well. Jenny Traskhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04466180941580189334noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7857347182424734742.post-82013892676081018162011-03-15T16:08:00.005-05:002011-03-15T16:25:30.077-05:00Please read this if you have children or know someone who does!I would just like to say that I am not a political person. I know nothing of politics and really have no desire to. However this has come to my attention and I do not think it is something we should be silent about. Even if you do nothing else, please pray! These are our children given to us by God and we are responsible for what happens to them. Please go to the parental rights website and learn more about this and what you can do if you feel led. The following article is from Michael Ramey. There is also a documentary that you can watch that explains what all of this means. The CRC is a BAD thing! The CRC will take your rights as a parent away from you concerning all things! Schooling, medical, and religion are just a few. Scary times are ahead! Pray!

Stop the Treaty - Save Religious Freedom
According to Article 29 of the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), every child has a government-enforceable right to be taught religious tolerance – the U.N.-defined idea that no one religion or belief can claim to be exclusively right. The only thing not to be tolerated is the belief that your religion is actually true. This is one reason we oppose the CRC, and a reason why last Friday we sent out a call blitz to support SR 99, the resolution in the U.S. Senate opposing CRC ratification. We are very close to a victory. SR 99 will halt the CRC for 2 more years, but only the Parental Rights Amendment can end the threat of this treaty permanently. Here’s what we would ask you to do:
Action Item
Warn your congregation. Whatever your faith, you want to pass your beliefs to your children – and so does the rest of your congregation. ParentalRights.org President Michael Farris has prepared a letter for you who are Christians to share with your pastors, addressing this need from a Christian perspective. This is because a majority of our readers are Christians – but the legal principles of religious liberty contained therein apply to every faith. Religious and parental liberties are of value only when all of us are protected. We would be glad to work with those from other faiths to prepare an appropriate flyer for you to use as you see fit. We will only save our parental and religious liberty from the threat of the CRC if we can all stand together to defend it.With your help, people will understand the threat of the CRC. First, I did my first maternity shoot last night! It was so much fun! What a blessing to be able to document the miracle of being pregnant! I will be doing the newborn shoot on March 5th, Lord willing. I also have two more maternity shoots in the next 3 weeks with their newborns to follow! I just LOVE this! Ashley is my helper and we have alot of fun. I still have not been able to do a wedding yet but am praying. First and foremost, I am a keeper at home and I LOVE that the most!
Another thing is my thoughts lately. At times I am tempted to play over my Dad's last day of life. If I really start thinking about it I have SO many regrets. If I had only known, things would have been so different. But we don't know, only God does. Then I have to remember that I had nothing left unsaid with my Dad. He knew how much I loved him and I had told him several times about the Lord. He also saw me live out my life in Christ. I told him two weeks before he died that I could not pray him into heaven, that no pastor could pray him into heaven. It had to be between him and the Lord. He had to pray and tell the Lord he wanted Him. I don't know what happened that day or the next two weeks. I have hope. I DO know that the Lord knows and I DO know that He is good. That I can trust and rest in. Also the Lord gave me so much more than a perfect last day with him. As I look at old pictures I see and remember how close to death he was when Dylan was 2, 8 yrs ago. And again when Paige was 3 months, 7 yrs ago. When Paige was 3 months I was a new Christian (a little over a year) and I prayed Lord please don't take my Dad now. He gave me 7 more yrs with him. So when I am tempted to say why not just one more day? I stop and praise the Lord for the 7 wonderful years! He was the best Dad and Grandpa EVER.
Now Homeschooling with Joy instead of tears! I must admit that there were some tears this last week. I became impatient with my little learner. I hate it when I do that. But I did realize it so much quicker and correct it. That was a blessing.
I wanted to share about our children being arrows. It is our job to sharpen and straighten our arrows. That way when we send them out into the world they will fly straight and be mighty for the Lord! The battle begins on the field of our children's hearts and moves out from there into the fields of a dying world. This one statement from the book I'm reading confirms my decision that schoolbooks are not the most important thing. I'm not training up my children to be math whizzes or to win a noble prize. I am training them up to go into a dying world and tell people about Christ. Both with their mouths and their lives. Yes, we do learn some book work but character and love one to another is so much more important than that. I want to have strong arrows to send out for the Lord. Nothing is more important than that!Jenny Traskhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04466180941580189334noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7857347182424734742.post-56119332083853503642011-02-04T23:43:00.001-06:002011-02-04T23:45:22.408-06:00Great Giveaway! We all need to be ready for an emergency, we just never know what's going to happen. I am a blessed mommy of 7 wonderful children and a happy wife! I just want to give praise and honor to the Lord for His faithfulness. This morning as I read John 15 I was reminded that He loves me! He LOVES me! Isn't that amazing?

We are starting to get settled. We started school last week. They are all doing so good. The house is staying clean! YaY! We are working on our nursing home songs! We are all excited to visit our old nursing homes. Lord willing, some of our old friends are still there.

I have an idea of why things are going so good.....I am having time in the morning to be with the Lord. My prayer and Bible reading are the best they have been in a LONG time. With a large family it can be so hard to get that time. But it is so important. You simply cannot grow if you are not getting fed. Also I am around encouraging people and seeking out encouraging things to read. I am reading Homeschooling With Joy by Christian Light. It's very good and I will be sharing some highlights soon! In any case, when you are right with the Lord and making Him first in your life everything else just falls into place!

Back to John 15, we are told to continue in His love and if you keep His commandments then ye shall abide in my love, verses 9 & 10. Focusing on His love spurs me onto good works. It is encouraging. Yes, He has wrath reserved for disobedient people. But for those who are surrendered to Him, He is there to help us if we fall. He wants us, He has chosen us. He is a loving Savior and one that I want to serve. He goes on to say that He does not call me His servant but His friend. In Matthew He says whoever does the will of my Father in heaven I call my mother, and sister, and brother. Matthew 12:50.

We are reading about Amy Carmichael as a family at night. It's great to hear of her selfless love for others. Especially those we would consider very low class. She sets up a meeting place for the ladies in Belfast that are covered in parasites, lice and fleas. Yet she only speaks of them with love. She truly has their souls in mind. Isn't it easy to start looking at people as lower than yourself? You're holy and they're not? Truth is that we were all there once. It's only by God's grace that I am where I am today. John 15:4,5, "Abide in me and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." Without the Lord you can do nothing. We are nothing by ourselves! Praise God! I think John 15 may be my favorite chapter in the Bible. Years ago when I started this blog I was obviously thinking about John 15 Striving to Abide in Christ. It's not always easy. In fact quite often it is hard. But again the Lord is faithful, I want to be faithful to Him!

Jenny Traskhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04466180941580189334noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7857347182424734742.post-51936495109390181772011-01-01T23:15:00.002-06:002011-01-01T23:24:24.440-06:00Happy New Year!I am learning so much and am so thankful to have a new year to put into practice the things I am learning.
