In Loving Memory of My Dad

Today it has been one month since my Dad passed away. Ashley and I didn't realize why it had been such a hard day. We have both been having a hard time today. I told her that I have been so sad about Dad and crying today and she said I know I have too. Then after talking to Mom I realized it is one month. It just keeps becoming more real. He's really gone and gone forever. I miss him so much. It hurts so much. I am still thankful to the Lord. He was so gracious to me in all of this and He has been so close to me. I wrote the poem that follows and read it at his funeral with Ashley. He was the best Dad & Grandpa ever! The top picture was taken the day before he passed. It is a precious picture to me. The other picture is one of my favorites that I took of him.

In Loving Memory of My Dad

What could be said
About a man so dear
He loved everyone he knew
Both far and near.

His smile was so warm
And his heart was so big
He could light up a room
And that's what he often did.

My Dad was the greatest
He truly was the best
Because he was in my life
I certainly have been blessed.

Up to his dying day
His grandchildren he did love
He knew that they were gifts
Given from God above.

Now his life
Is forever ended
All his work here
Has been tended.

He will be missed so deeply
And we know it's okay to cry
Because he was loved so much
It hurts to say goodbye.

His dying has left a hole in my heart
Yet his memory will remain
In my heart and yours I pray
He will always stay the same.

Though he is not here with us
He is not truly gone
All the love he had for us
Will continue to live on.

What a blessing to have had such a Dad, and to have gotten that pic of him with all the children.
May our God comfort your hearts as only He can do.
This touches my heart as I am walking thru the end of his life with my dad, who will turn 92 the 27th of this month. He has been an incredible blessing in my life.

With loving prayers,

Jenny! Your blog posting is amazing! You have such a lovely family! Just beautiful children! You are truly blessed! Also, I am sorry to hear about your dad passing away. I think it was a God thing to have been able to capture that picture with him looking so happy with his grandchildren surrounding him. It is a treasure for them to have that memory of their grandfather. You inspire me!!!
